Poetry
I was given the opportunity in 2009 to experiment with poetry. I quickly discovered that I loved the balance between structure and freedom. I am particularly interested in slant rhymes, free verse, and the use of white space (the arrangement of words on the page) to convey meaning.
The following are my favorite poems are from my Introduction to Poetry class. Each poem was inspired by a prompt; The first was how we felt about poetry, the second was a "found" poem (taking words from a publication and creating a poem from them), and the last was the importance of word order.
